Taking care of your health is one of the most important investments a person can make. Let it begin with The Winchester Institute of Chiropractic Health and Wellness. We're here to help at our Dublin, Ohio facility. Below are a few answers to some common questions you may have about Gonstead Chiropractic.
What is Gonstead Chiropractic?
Gonstead Chiropractic is a health care discipline that emphasizes the inherent recuperative power to let your body heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery. The practice of Gonstead Chiropractic focuses on the relationship between structure (primarily of the spine) and function (as coordinated by the nervous system) and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health.
A Gonstead Practitioner is specifically trained to deliver full-spine, specific adjustments to abnormally functioning vertebrae, commonly misunderstood as a misalignment. With restoration of spinal function, our patients are able to more fully rehabilitate the muscular system.
How does Gonstead Chiropractic work?
Scientific evidence clearly demonstrates that spinal manipulation is safe, gentle, effective, and is less costly than other commonly accepted, but less effective forms of care. The research and scientific evidence concerning the intimate relationship between the brain, spinal cord, spinal cord nerves, and spinal vertebrae is above reproach. Today, no one seriously questions the prevailing wisdom that structure (primarily the spine), function, and overall health are integrally related. Gonstead adjustments can restore function to damaged spinal joints and calm nerve irritation. The adjustment can restore motion and movement to any joint in the human body.
Does it hurt?
No. Our Chiropractic Doctors use specially designed Gonstead Adjusting Tables which are comfortable and keep you in the most natural, neutral position possible. A quick, gentle pressure will be applied to ease the spine back to normal function and range of motion.
Will my insurance pay for it?
Our Chiropractic Doctors are "in-network" providers with most major medical insurance plans. Most insurance programs offer Chiropractic benefits, including manipulative treatment (if medically necessary), leaving the patient to pay just as they would for any other Physician or Specialist. Most of our patients pay a small copay or coinsurance for treatment each visit. Feel free to have our Administrative Care Coordinators verify your insurance coverage!
But what if I don't have any back pain right now?
Infants or senior citizens, one fact remains consistently true: the body's nervous system controls and coordinates every cell, tissue, and organ in the body. Our Chiropractic Physicians detect and correct interference to normal nerve transmission so the body can function at peak efficiency.
Regardless of the reason for your visit to our clinic, Our Chiropractic Doctors will perform a thorough exam history and initial evaluation to determine the best treatment course available.
Pain is the final sign to present itself with most disease processes in the body. Think of heart disease... long before blood pressure is high and a heart attack occurs, damage within the vascular system starts to develop. In fact, most heart attack victims never have a prior symptom.
Will I have to be seen frequently when I first start my treatment?
Remember, healing is a process...not an event! Just as most people choose to benefit from a lifetime of regular dental care, so too, do many people select to benefit from a lifetime of regular Chiropractic care.
Think about the process of building strong, lean muscles. It doesn't happen overnight. Chiropractic care is no different. Chiropractic care takes time to restore proper movement and spine alignment.
How does Deep Tissue Therapy coincide with Chiropractic Treatment?
With the addition of our Rehabilitation and Spa Studios, we are offering treatment aimed at restoring complete health to your body as a whole... not simply masking the symptoms, but addressing the root problem. Deep Tissue Therapy and Chiropractic Treatment work together to allow for maximum benefits for our patients. Deep Tissue Massage Therapy works to strengthen and correct the surrounding soft tissue while releasing muscle tension to coincide with your spinal adjustment.
